Cinefix, the creators responsible for this recut masterpiece explained their reasoning behind the dramatic trailer:
“With the upcoming movie ‘King Arthur: Legend of the Sword’ coming in 2017, we wondered if it might be better to just recut ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ as a crazy intense drama. So we did!“
They did such an amazing job, that now we want to see this movie as well to see how it measures up against the upcoming Guy Ritchie King Arthur movie starring Charlie Hunnam.
The original 1975 film, from comedic ledgends Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones is “a comedic send-up of the grim circumstances of the Middle Ages as told through the story of King Arthur and framed by a modern-day murder investigation.
When the mythical king of the Britons leads his knights on a quest for the Holy Grail, they face a wide array of horrors, including a persistent Black Knight, a three-headed giant, a cadre of shrubbery-challenged knights, the perilous Castle Anthrax, a killer rabbit, a house of virgins, and a handful of rude Frenchmen.”
However, this trailer shows us that with adding some adventerous music and focusing on the right one-liners Monty Python and The Holy Grail could easily be mistaken for a dramatic period piece.
