Jurassic World 2: Everything We Know So Far

Jurassic World 2 is only a little over a year away, so that means the production stages are in full swing. JA Bayona and company are getting ready to bring audiences a blockbuster for the ages.

While everyone is excited for the film, there isn’t much detail out in the world right now. Some cast members have dropped hints about the plot, and a couple of casting decisions have been made.

Other that that, the production has been kept a bit of a secret.

Initial Cast Members

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are both confirmed to return to the sequel as Owen and Claire. As of now, the only other character from the first Jurassic World that has even been rumored to return is BD Wong’s Dr. Wu.

There will likely be other actors back in the sequel, but there hasn’t been much talk of their returns as of yet.

As far as new cast members go, four actors have been added to the film. Daniella Pineda, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, and Justice Smith are all confirmed for appearances. Pineda will be the second female lead on the film.

Creative Crew

While Colin Trevarrow isn’t returning as the director, he will still be involved as an executive producer. Along with Trevarrow, Steven Spielberg, Thomas Tull, Belen Atienza, Patrick Crowley, and Frank Marshall will all produce.

Trevarrow wrote the script for the film with Derek Connolly, and A Monster Calls director JA Bayona will helm the film.

Filming Location

While it was unclear what kind of setting the new film would include, it’s going to involve a vast countryside.

JA Bayona said that the countryside of Brecon Beacons in Wales will be the main filming location for Jurassic World 2.

The one thing that wasn’t mentioned in this announcement however, was how long they would be filming the scenes in Wales.

Plot Details

We know a couple of things about the plot of Jurassic World 2 so far, but not many.

First, there will be some kind of time gap between the two films. During an interview, Bryce Dallas Howard revealed that there were things Claire and Owen had to figure out about themselves in the time between the first and second movies.

Second, we know that InGen is attempting to weaponize the dinosaurs. Whether or not they actually succeed remains to be seen.

Finally, we know that this film will be much bigger than the first Jurassic World. Bayona has said on more than one occasion that the idea is to take the franchise to new heights.

Production Has Begun

In a tweet last month, JA Bayona teased fans about the start of the official production. He shared a picture of the classic Jurassic Park helmets, and said they were off and running.
