During a showing of Blake Lively's new film "The Shallows," a 23-year-old man stabbed an unnamed 21-year-old male victim at the Roxy Theater in Santa Rosa.

The attacker reportedly approached the victim from behind stabbing him multiple times just 30 minutes after the movie started, according to Press Democrat. "Out of nowhere, he came up from behind him, he stabbed him in the throat, in the arm, in the lung," Sgt. Josh Ludtke stated. The attacker and the victim apparently did not know each other, and the Santa Rosa Police Captain Ray Navarro classified the brutal stabbing as "random."

The 911 call informing the authorities of the incident was reported at 4:07 p.m. after the attacker fled the auditorium exiting through the theater lobby. The attacker left the knife used in the attack in a trash can located outside the auditorium.

The attacker was taken into custody of the Santa Rosa police Wednesday. The authorities are "still trying to figure out who he is." Ludtke described the man as black with a full beard and dreadlocks. The attacker in custody reportedly gave the authorities his name and age but had no identification to very and the police have not found any definitive proof of who the man is, although he was previously arrested. He is also being investigated as the suspect in another stabbing that took place on Monday in Santa Rosa with the same brutal characteristics.

The victim was taken to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital while he was still conscious but sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Captain Ray Navarro.

The police were forced to shut the entire two-story theater down in order to collect evidence. Assistant Manager at the Roxy Theater, Giovana Garcia, gave no comment on the incident but maintained that the theater was expected to be fully open on Thursday.
