Popular 2000s Rapper Injured in Car Crash

Dipset member Juelz Santana shared images of an injured and bloody face after he said he was in a car accident. He took to his Instagram Story on Monday Jan. 12 to share a photo of his face, with major scrapes on his nose and cheek. 

He captioned the story “car crash” over the image, with prayer hand emojis signifying he feels blessed to have survived. No further details have been shared but he later asked for prayers.

The rapper made headlines last fall for his controversial stance on literacy. He shared that he believes financial literacy is more important than knowing how to read. “By the time they get to ninth grade, they should be learning how to start businesses,” Santana told the No Funny Shit podcast. “But they don’t really need to learn how to read. You could listen to a book on YouTube. You can still obtain the information. You don’t have to know how to read,” he added. “I believe common sense is better than everything.”

The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne tha God deemed him the “Donkey of the Day” for his comments. “If you rely on the apps and audiobooks, then you’re always going to be dependent on someone else’s translation,” the New York Times best-selling author argued. “But if you know how to read, then you have direct access to the information yourself. And what you can’t comprehend, what you don’t understand, then you can ask questions. That is the beauty of reading. But you can’t comprehend or understand, if you don’t know how to read first,” he continued. “Kids need to learn how to read full stop. Adults need to learn how to read full stop. Reading matters so much, man.”

Santana appeared on Love & Hip Hop alongside his then-wife, video model Kimbella Vanderhee. They share two children. They split in 2022 after three years of marriage and more than a decade together, with Vanderhee attributing their split to his alleged cheating, which he denied.
