Hot off the heels of the success of the slasher Scream, writer Kevin Williamson found himself another hit with I Know What You Did Last Summer, which hit theaters twenty years ago.
After a night of hard partying in honor of the Fourth of July, a group of teens heads home with a drunk driver at the wheel, only to hit and supposedly kill a stranger on the side of the road. Thinking no one saw the event and that the man was dead anyway, they attempt to dispose of the body.

The following summer, with the friends now having drifted apart, they reunite to reveal that they’re being stalked by someone with the ominous note that revealed “I know what you did last summer.” One by one, the teens are taken out, eventually revealing the identity of the killer.
The film only earned mixed reviews when it was initially released, not finding quite the same success as Scream, but with the film having brought together a cast of young stars on the rise, it ended up being a financial success, spawning two sequels.
The already successful stars of the film became some of the most sought-after talent of their generation, going on to star in a variety of projects throughout their career.
