Walt Disney Studios has rolled out its entire release calendar for 2018, and it’s stacked full of beloved properties.

There’s nine movies lined up for the year, including three Marvel films, several animated offerings, a Mary Poppins sequel and a new Star Wars spin-off. There’s also a couple new properties that Disney has yet to adapt to the screen, but are poised for grand debuts in 2018.

‘Black Panther’

Release Date: February 16, 2018

Cast: Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis

Synopsis: “After the events of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.”

‘A Wrinkle In Time’

Release Date: March 9, 2018

Cast: Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis, Chris Pine

Synopsis: The film, which is an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and ultimately, the triumph of love.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Release Date: May 4, 2018

Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Synopsis: Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

 

‘Han Solo: A Star Wars Story’

Release Date: May 25, 2018

Cast: Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, JoonasSuotamo

Synopsis: Set prior to the events of Han Solo’s first appearance in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. The film is said to show how Han Solo and Chewbacca, first met Lando Calrissian, played by Donald Glover.

‘The Incredibles 2’

Release Date: June 15, 2018

Cast: Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Vowell, Huck Milner, Samuel L. Jackson

Synopsis: As told by Director Brad Bird: “It’s fundamentally a story about family…with this new film, we’re excited to jump back into that world. We have controls able to do so much more than before…You the audience know that (Jack-Jack) has super powers but the family is unaware. We’re having fun with that in the film.

“There’s an issue with the family’s house. So, the family has to get a new house. As you can see, it’s kind of a cross between a dream house and a super lair — a secret agents house or something. Water flows throughout the whole building and its made almost entirely of sharp corners which is not ideal for a baby.

“The whole world of Incredibles 2 is gonna be greatly expanded upon…We’ll be seeing a lot more of Elastagirl.”

‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’

Release Date: July 6, 2018

Cast: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Randall Park

Synopsis: Not much is known about the film’s plot, but, as the title suggests, we will see Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man teaming up with Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp.

 

‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’

Release Date: November 2, 2018

Cast: Mackenzie Foy, Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Matthew Macfadyen, Miranda Hart, Eugenio Derbez

Synopsis: “A young girl is transported into a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice,” per IMDB.

‘Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2’

Release Date: November 21, 2018

Cast: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Taraji P. Henson

Synopsis: Not much is known about the plot, aside from the fact that Ralph and Penelope will be sucked into the internet and will encounter some famous Disney characters along the way.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Release Date: December 25, 2018

Cast: Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Pixie Davies, Joel Dawson, Nathanael Saleh, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep

Synopsis: “In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.”
