For fans of the 2010 action-comedy MacGruber, it's officially time to get excited. After heavy speculation, Director Jorma Taccone confirmed on social media that MacGruber 2 will be happening.
On September 26, the 39-year-old director shared an image on Twitter with the caption: "No Joke. #MacGruber2."
The picture shows the front page of a script titled MacGruber 2. Even though the screenplay is still in "super duper rough" form, it's still a promising confirmation that the highly-anticipated sequel is in the works.
The first MacGruber film was directed by Jorma Taccone, who also helped pen the script with Will Forte and John Solmon. Some of Taccone's other directing credits include: 26 episodes of Saturday Night Live, 2 episodes of Parks and Recreation, an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
The film starred Forte (MacGruber), Kristen Wiig (Vicki), Ryan Phillippe (Piper), Val Kilmer (Dieter Von Cunth), Maya Rudolph (Casey), Powers Boothe (Colonel Faith), Timothy V. Murphy (Constantine), Paul "The Big Show" Wight (Brick Hughes), Chris Jericho (Frank Korver), Mark Henry (Tut Beemer), and many more.
The action-comedy flick followed Forte's character, a former special operative named MacGruber who is called back into action. MacGruber is forced to take down his arch-nemesis Dieter Von Cunth when he learns that his enemy is in possession of a nuclear warhead, and plans on destroying Washington, D.C.
