Spice Girls – Where Are They Now?

In the late ’90s, few musicians captured the public’s attention like the Spice Girls. The bubblegum pop girl group dominated the charts with their painfully catchy songs and well-defined personas within the squad. Possibly a response to the grunge rock movement of the earlier part of the decade, their sound and image harkened back to the female sensations of the ’80s like Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, reminding listeners it’s okay to have fun, playful music.

The Spice Girls dominated the music market so strongly with their Girl Power, they even transitioned to starring in their own movie, Spice World. At the height of their success, Geri Halliwell departed from the group, two members became pregnant, and their global domination had to be put on hiatus.

Ten years after their split, the group reunited for a series of performances, bringing all five original members together. In the ten years since their reunion, the group has found time to sporadically put all of their newfound lives and careers on hold for performances and public appearances.

Victoria Beckham – Posh Spice

Beckham was noted for being the most fashionable member of the group, so it comes as no surprise that she became a well-renowned fashion designer and businesswoman. Victoria has starred in five different reality shows about her life and has four children with soccer superstar David Beckham, making the family one of the most famous in the world.

Geri Halliwell – Ginger Spice

Possibly having the most successful post-Spice Girls musical career, Halliwell is the female singer with the third-most number one singles in the UK Singles Chart history. In 2013, Halliwell became a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, following her time spent as a United Nations ambassador.

Melanie Brown – Scary Spice

Following multiple solo albums, Mel began exploring other projects, such as hosting a variety of UK-based shows and competing in multiple different reality series. In 2007, she scored the runner-up spot on the dance competition show Dancing With the Stars. In 2014, she replaced Sharon Osborne as a judge on America’s Got Talent.

Melanie Chisholm – Sporty Spice

Chisholm earned her nickname for her predilection towards athletic gear over short skirts, proving herself to continue being one of the most active members of the group. The singer has never stopped making music, while also acting for the stage and screen to her impressive resume. In her 20-year career, the musician has sold 100 million albums, 20 million of those being for her solo releases, and had her only daughter in 2009.

Emma Bunton – Baby Spice

Bunton earned her nickname due to being the youngest member of the group, but that didn’t make her any less successful. Like the other members of the group, Bunton pursued a solo musical career and began expanding her skills by taking on acting opportunities. Beginning in 2003, Bunton took on a role in the TV series Absolutely Fabulous that lasted nearly a decade, going on to cameo in the 2012 revival series and 2016’s Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
