After four years together, Drew Barrymore has filed for divorce from husband Will Kopelman. According to E! News, the two had confirmed their separation in April, but Barrymore finally made the first move to make the divorce official.
The two have two daughters together, Olive, 3 and Frankie, 2. Despite the divorce, Barrymore and Kopelman have said that their family is a priority, so the marriage might be off, but the family will never be.
"Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family," the two said in a joint statement. "Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority."
Barrymore has shown that she is truly putting the kids first by sharing plenty of photos on social of her and the girls. But when she appeared on Chelsea she did confirm that she is struggling with the divorce. She said that it is hard to see a divorce as anything other than "the biggest failure."
"It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately," Barrymore said.
A source told E! News that this separation and divorce as actually a slow burn. The two didn't make this decision quickly, nor have they taken it lightly.
