Slash Surprises 'School of Rock' Cast During Rehearsal
While the cast of School of Rock on Broadway rehearsed classic rock song "Sweet Child o' Mine," one special guest showed up for a surprise jam session with the talented youngsters. Guns N' Roses guitarist, Slash, arrived to rock out to a couple songs alongside the kids while on a break from his band's current tour.
While one of the young actors was nailing the famous guitar solo, Slash appeared on stage to join in during the song. Brandon Niederauer, who plays guitar prodigy Zack in the show, was visibly shocked when the famous musician showed up but kept playing along like a professional to finish the song. Slash performed both "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Paradise City" with singer Bobbi MacKenzie on lead vocals. Mackenzie plays soulful lead singer Tomika, and belted out both songs before realizing Slash was standing behind her.
"It was really cool to meet such an enthusiastic and talented bunch of rock 'n' rollers," Slash stated to Rolling Stone. "They were great kids as well as players."
Also, in April another rock legend performed with the pre-teen cast of School of Rock. Stevie Nicks, who has several songs featured in the musical, made an appearance for a special curtain call performance of "Rhiannon." Nicks has been to the show multiple times and according to Tony-nominated star Alex Brightman, she would like to take the young band with her on tour.
Guns N' Roses has recently reunited most of the original band members - Axl Rose, Duff McKagan and Slash - earlier this year for the Not in This Lifetime tour, according to Rolling Stone.
The band is currently on tour and will be playing dates all over North and South American until November.0comments
