"What an oxymoron... a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality," Dillard tweeted in response to a promotional tweet from TLC for I Am Jazz. "'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God."
Many Twitter users immediately slammed Dillard for his words.
He's a grown man attacking a child. He's being a bully.— Danielle (@PantherNGA) August 3, 2017
what an oxymoron. A Christian judging someone when our God calls us not to judge. Matthew 7:1. Disagree all u want, don't judge— internetkid (@mariemakeup101) August 3, 2017
Exactly! Derick had jaw surgery recently. But wasn't his wonky jaw ordained by God? Why did he have to go get his God - given jaw fixed? 🤔🤔— Nikki (@AYTYNikki) August 3, 2017
Dillard later inserted himself back into the fray with a reply to a user's query.
Is it necessary for a grown man to throw shade at a teenage girl?— Shannon Miller (@notthegymnast) August 3, 2017
I want to be clear. I have nothing against him. I only have issue with the words and definitions being propagated here.— Derick Dillard (@derick4Him) August 3, 2017
Dillard also received support from several followers.
Derick, It takes courage to speak the truth. I support you with my prayers as you stand for God's word. God bless you, young man.🙏💒— Marcia (@MarciaR74214445) August 3, 2017
Several people also tweeted at TLC, calling out Dillard's words and say he is bullying Jennings.
@TLC ARE YOU SERIOUSLY OK WITH THIS??? YOU'RE GONNA ALLOW A GROWN MAN CHILD TO BULLY A CHILD ON YOUR WATCH???— Simone Marie (@Suhr_Enity) August 3, 2017
@TLC doesn't seem to care or support its own antibullying campaign because they pay a scum like him to bully a little girl— Charlotte Olson (@portiajules) August 3, 2017
