Rory went on a little trip over the weekend and posted this photo of his travel companion, sweet little Indy.
The Feeks have been on a whirlwind emotional jouney since Rory’s wife and Indy’s mom, Joey died of cancer. Friday would have been Joey’s 41st birthday, the first one the family has had without her.

Rory shared his thoughts and feelings about the day in a recent blog post.
It was the first time Joey’s family had been back to the the Feek’s gorgeous farmhouse in Tennessee where Joey is buried. They came and stayed for a few months to grieve and be with Rory and Indy after their daughter and sister died.
Rory captured the emotional reunion between Joey’s daughter and the her family,
“It was as if no time had passed at all between the two of them and the deep love and connection they felt and shared together during those months we spent in Indiana came pouring back in an instant.Indy stayed in June’s arms for a long, long time and the tears fell from our eyes as we listened to Joey’s mama softly singing hymns to Indy, just as Joey had always done when she was here.
Soon the baby was passed from lap to lap and aunt to aunt…from Jody to Julie to Jessie.Their hearts and arms filled with what they’d come to back to Tennessee to honor.Joey.”
Losing a loved one is a truly heart-breaking thing, but Rory captured the importance of being with loved ones and allowing the grieving process to happen together,
“Yes, there were tears.Lots of them. From all of us.But there was also a lot of joy and laughter. In the film, just like in real life… the pain we experienced in one moment was balanced by the joy we felt in another. The loss of one life was somehow balanced by the gift of another…”
