During their announcement video, Caldwell, 18, spoke about what excites her about entering their courtship.
“I’m looking forward to getting to spend more time with Joseph as we take this exciting step toward a new season in life,” the teen added. “It’s a really wonderful moment!”
Caldwell adds: “I’m looking forward to side-hugs and getting to do phone calls and texting and also getting to do ministry stuff out in public and for everyone to know we’re courting.”
Duggar revealed that he gave Caldwell a promise ring, which means he will wait for her for marriage.
Joseph and Kendra’s happy news comes shortly after his sister Joy-Anna’s big engagement announcement.
The 19-year-old and her boyfriend Austin Forsyth got engaged on March 2 after a four-month courtship.
“We just got engaged!” Joy-Anna said. “I’m so excited to be engaged to my best friend — Austin made it so romantic, it’s amazing.”
Joy-Anna’s engagement follows her older sister Jinger Duggar‘s November wedding to Jeremy Vuolo.
Joseph and Kendra’s courtship will be documented on the family’s reality show Counting On!
