Happy Birthday, Channing Tatum!

Channing Tatum is celebrating his 36th birthday today!

Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama, and before he became a famous actor, he worked as a model and dancer, first appearing in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” music video. He worked as print model for appeared in campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Dolce & Gabbana and American Eagle Outfitters.

His next chance at fame came when he was cast as the lead in Step Up, a movie where he was able to use his dancing background and his acting chops to get noticed. He went on to secure roles in other high-budget movies like G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 21 Jump Street.

But, Tatum became a huge name when he produced and starred in Magic Mike, a story based on his own experience as a male stripper and later that year he landed the cover of PEOPLE‘s annual Sexiest Man Alive issue.

Tatum is married to Jenna Dewan, whom he met while they both starred in Step Up. They began dating shortly after the movie wrapped and got engaged two years later. They married July 11, 2009, and welcomed their first daughter in 2013.
