Gwen Stefani recently told Howard Stern that two of Hollywood’s hottest couples almost never got together thanks to a casting decision.
The pop star revealed that she auditioned for Angelina Jolie’s role in Mr. & Mrs. Smith and almost got the part.

That is the part that brought Jolie and her now-husband Brad Pitt together in 2005.
“I feel like I almost got it,” Stefani told the radio host. “I went to a bunch [of auditions].”
It seems pretty reasonable to assume that if Stefani had gotten the role, Jolie and Pitt’s relationship might not have played out the way it did. As for Stefani and Blake Shelton? Who knows if they would have met on the Voice if she had switched her focus from music to film.
Fortunately for anyone a little in love with Stefani and Blake’s love, the pop princess chose her music career over a spot in the spy movie.
“[It was] very competitive and I wanted to do it, but I wanted to do music more,” she explained.
