The most recent episode of Game of Thrones, “Eastwatch,” featured more highly-anticipated reunions than possibly any in the show’s history. However, none may have been more heartfelt than when Ser Jorah Mormont reconnected with Daenerys Targaryen.

Actor Iain Glenn, who portrays Jorah, has opened up about what it was like for his character to return to the aid of his queen.

“I think it was one of the most important scenes certainly for Jorah this season,” Glenn said during an “Inside the Episode” segment.

In Season 5, Jorah contracted “greyscale” while passing through the ruins in Old Valyria on his way to Meereen with Tyrion Lannister. Daenerys ordered him away from her side and to do anything in his power to find a cure.

“She was the one who motivated him and said, ‘Please you need to find a cure because I need you with me,’” Glenn said.

Fortunately, Samwell Tarly (John Bradley-West) was able to successfully remove the disease from Jorah’s body. Once healed, Jorah began his journey to return to Daenerys, who welcomed him back with open arms.

“And that was a great gift from her, and it felt like it put the badness of our history and my initial betrayal to bed,” Glenn said. “It’s not until she surprisingly embraced him that I think he feels like he has finally come home.”

Emilia Clarke, who plays the Mother of Dragons, explained that this was one of the most emotional scenes for her character this season.

“It’s one of the most tender moments that you will see from Daenerys this season. Because the thing about Ser Jorah is that he has been the one from the very beginning. And so I think he has an ability to see right through her,” she said.

Even though it’s been a long time coming for Jorah to get back to Dany, he quickly left her once again at the end of episode 5 in order to help Jon Snow with his plans at The Wall. According to Kit Harrington, who portrays the King in the North, there likely won’t be any bad blood between Jon and Jorah.

While Jorah has been a faithful servant to Dany, he was disgraced in his family after being involved in slave trade. Because Jon served on the Night’s Watch with Jorah’s father, Jeor Mormont, most of what Jon has heard of Jorah has been bad. However, Jon is willing to let this issue rest in the past at this point in the story.

“I think at this point Jon is willing to forgive anyone anything, as long as they will come on side with him things can be ironed out afterward,” Harrington said.
