Disney Channel Revives ’90s Series

Continuing the trend of ’90s revivals, Disney Channel has announced that it will be rebooting its summer camp reality show Bug Juice, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The show was the network’s first unscripted series and ran for three seasons from 1998 to 2001, following a group of kids as they journeyed to summer camp for some epic adventures.

The revival, which is currently filming, will “capture the authentic adventures of a group of kids age 10-12 as they head to summer camp, join in exciting and challenging outdoor activities, establish tight bonds with bunkmates and create unforgettable memories.”

Bug Juice gets its name from the drinks often served at summer camps across the nation, and is already kicking off the nostalgia train by filming its reboot at the same spot the first season was shot, Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, Maine.

“Bug Juice took viewers on a journey of adventure and self-discovery. Now, nearly two decades later, we are thrilled to be back in Maine at Camp Waziyatah with the creative team from Evolution Media and many of the same crew members who produced the original series,” Susette Hsiung, the executive vice president of production at Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement.
