It’s hard to believe that it was almost 20 years ago when Mandy Moore first hit the scene in ’99 with her princess pop hit “Candy”. These days, she plays a fierce, protective older mother on NBC’s This Is Us, and a Tangled sequel series in the works for the future. Moore’s journey along the way has been a long one — check out her style evolution from teenage princess to beauty queen.

“Candy” catapulted Moore onto the scene when she was just 15 years old. That long, blonde hair and bubblegum pink sleeveless turtleneck certainly cemented her bubblegum pop image at the 10th Annual Billboard Music Awards. And just in case you had doubts, the nude lip gloss confirms that it is indeed 1999. Not to mention that she toured with both NSYNC and Backstreet Boys!

2000

Ah, yes, the layered, shaggy hairdo known as “the Rachel.” 2000 was a big year for Moore, as her single I Wanna Be With You reached number 24 on the Billboard Top 100, with the album peaking at number 21 on the US Billboard 200 chart. (Pretty sure that shade of Lip Smackers is still somewhere in our childhood bedroom.)

2001

Who could forget Moore as Lana Thomas in The Princess Diaries? In case it wasn’t apparent enough, bucket hats were an extremely popular accessory in 2001… as were Nintendo Game Cubes.

Hellooo, early 2000s bob! Moore ~killed it~ on the Nickelodeon’s 15th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards red carpet with a little help from her short bob, bronzer and matching peachy keen lipstick/top duo.

2006

Jumping ahead a few years, Moore’s long blonde locks at Olympus Fashion Week reaffirmed her pop star image. Fun fact: In 2006, Moore appeared on a guest episode of Scrubs. Who remembers?

2007

2007 was the year Moore starred opposite a young John Krasinski in License to Wed, thereby making our lives complete. Check out the amber locks and emerald gown combo — classic. And those hoop earrings and gloppsy lips complete her red carpet look!

2009

Moore went back to black in 2009. She also released her album Amanda Leigh, an ~artsy~ album aimed at providing more credibility and range than her first two albums, which Moore herself said were “just awful.” This also happens to be the year she married singer-songwriter Ryan Adams. A fresh start, perhaps?

2010

Moore’s pink gown and glowing grin at the Tangled premiere make us want to watch the Oscar-nominated and Grammy-winning movie all over again.

2017

Fast-forward to present day at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, where Moore was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her role on This Is Us. Dark hair, strong brows and a center part prove that classic beauty prevails. Moore’s divorce from Adams was official in 2016, and a little birdy told us she’s now dating Taylor Goldsmith, the lead singer in Dawes.
