Hello and welcome to the internet’s first attempt to combine professional wrestling and economics. Every week I’ll be consulting my high council of pseudo-intellects on the perceived value of each of WWE‘s championship belts. As WWE fans like to to commentate on strong and weak champions, why not take carry it a step further and actually assign numerical worth to each?
We opened each title with a nice, easy to digest number. For example, the Universal Title opened (May 1st)at 75.00 even. Since it’s WWE’s holiest belt, it begins with the highest starting value. Conversely, the Smackdown Tag Team belt, far less significant to WWE as a whole, opened at 20.00

Where they go from here is totally dependent on the highly reactionary, yet, omnipotent, Market. Simply put, The Market is the little man behind the curtain that adjusts his prices based on enthusiasm or disdain for the stock.
What makes a stock go up? Well, if Daniel Bryan were to challenge the Miz to an Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania 34 the Market would shoot itself to the moon with glee.
On the other side of the coin, if Brock Lesnar fed the Universal Title to his cows on live television, well, Mr. Market would be looking for the fastest way to kill himself.

Got it? Let’s begin!
Universal Championship75.32(+0.32)

How can a belt not appear on WWE TV and still go up in value? Well, Brock Lesnar, mostly.ย
If anyone else were champion, the Market would be soaking in a nervous, sour smelling sweat. But when that red licorice strap sits above Brock’s farmhouse fireplace, the Market allows the belt to appreciate. Think of it as WWE’s version of a savings account.ย
Although some fans are already chapped about Lesnar’s schedule, The Market stands behind the Universal Championship.ย
However, the injury of Braun Strowman could impact the title in coming weeks. Whoever gets the first shot at Lesnar may greatly sway this belt’s value.ย

Even though the fans seem to be warming up on Jinder Mahal, the Market remains cold. Regardless of what happens at Backlash, watch for this stock to continue its decline.ย
The Market will likely interpret a listless Randy Orton or One Off Champion in Mahal, as a bad thing for the belt’s value. To put it simply, Smackdown has better options.ย
Until the WWE Championship lands in steadier, or more charismatics hands, there’s little use in paying attention.

Intercontinental Championship54.12(+4.12)

This week’s top earner! Although the market may have overreacted to the Intercontinental title’s new main event platform, the fact remains: This belt is the de facto headliner on RAW.ย
The prestige of the IC Title is undeniable, but it wasn’t too long ago that Ryback was champion (an all time low for this stock). Things are on the up-and-up now, as WWE has surrounded this scene with some of its most dependable stars.ย
Look for this belt’s value to continue to climb, particularly if Miz leaves next week as its new champion.ย
BUY
United States Championship48.46(+3.46)

The Market loves when former world champions feud over a mid-card belt. Every time Kevin Owens or AJ Styles utters “US Title” the Market touches itself. Rumors of Shinsuke Nakamura entering the fray has the Market seeping with feral salivation.ย
Times are good. Buy this stock.ย

RAW Womenโs38.63 (+0.63)
The fumes of Alexa Bliss’ victory over Bayley will continue to push this stock in forward increments. As long as Ms. Bliss holds this title, it should keep handing out small returns.ย
However, in a post-WrestleMania lull, this title should be watched, rather than bought. The Market remains skeptical of this division’s box office drawing power (aside from Ms. Bliss, of course).ย

RAW Tag25.74 (+0.74)
The Market loves Charlotte. The money follows her. Even though Naomi is an arbitrary champion, the Market is bullish on this division as a whole. Smackdown grooved out paths for multiple intriguing options now that Becky Lynch has returned to the stove.ย
The Market thinks it’s best to hop on now, before this price jumps further once Charlotte officially enters the title picture.

Smackdown Tag21.28(+1.28)
The Market loves fun. The Usos and Breezango look to be exactly that. The Market is also eased by the veteran presence in this title’s picture.ย
With the New Day due for a fresh return, the Market’s eyes have begun to roll into the back of its skull in deep pleasure.ย
The Market is prone to overreaction, but for now, this stock is a lead pipe lock of a buy.ย Smackdown Tag ย ย 21.28 ย (+1.28)

The Market is infatuated with Neville’s muscles. It also loves Jack Gallagher’s head butts. The Market has hope for this penny stock – if WWE can develop a compelling adversary to Neville, this belt could pay high returns.ย
