I still can’t believe I’m going to type this, but Jinder Mahal is your new WWE Champion. Yes, the same guy who was the third most promising member of 3 Man Band has risen from obscurity to defeat 13 time World Champion, Randy Orton.
Mahal needed some help from his eager cronies, The Singh Brothers, to get the job done, but every good heel has to win with a little nefarious help. The decision to take the title off Orton so soon after his WrestleMania victory over Bray Wyatt surprised the WWE Universe.

However, giving it to someone that we really had not seen win a singles match on RAW or SmackDown until this month was an absolute shocker.
While the decision to put the belt on Jinder will cause some to say “they’ll never watch wrestling again”, it was a brilliantly bold move by WWE to give blue collar American fans a heel they can fully root against while giving the entire country of India a reason to tune into the WWE each week.
If they could buy into the Great Khali, they’ll love seeing Jinder perform every Tuesday night.
When Mahal stood over The Viper holding the WWE Championship high above his head, Twitter rightfully lost their minds. Here are some of the best reactions.
