SDCC 2017: ‘Teen Wolf’ Full Panel Recap

Footage of Tyler Hoechlin from a remote location kicks off the panel, and he introduced a new clip of Derek from Season 6.

There is a group of dead bodies lying around an abandoned building. A man is talking about someone wanting revenge and that person being very angry. Some men in the room are attacked by something in the shadows.

Derek Hale comes on screen, bright blue eyes glowing as he hunts down his last victim. Men come out from no where and he takes them out. Derek flashes his teeth and interrogates the man.

Derek sees a car under a sheet and takes the cover off. It’s a black corvette. He drives it through the building as he exits, doing donuts in the parking lot. Derek speeds down the road.

Jeff Davis comes onto the stage, followed by stars Khylin Rhambo, Cody Christian, Shelly Henney, Dylan Sprayberry, Charlie Carver, Tyler Posey, and Dylan O’Brien.

Posey begins by thanking everybody.

What was it like going from the pilot to episode 100?

Posey said that it was crazy to grow with this show because he started doing the series when he and Dylan were only 18. He said that it was incredible special to be with every person on the stage, and he thanked Jeff for the opportunity.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

Jeff Davis: “I never thought a show named ‘Teen Wolf’ would make it 100 episodes.”

Jeff said that there was a cake for the 100th episode, and he gave the knife to Tyler to cut it because he’s the only cast member to make it through all 100. Dylan put his arm around Tyler.

Dylan said that he will always love Teen Wolf because it was his very first part. 7 years later and they’re now 25 years-old. 

“We’ll always be a family. I’ll always love this character, and I’ll always love this show.”

What was it like coming back to Beacon Hills?

Charlie said he was lucky that his character didn’t die. He’s grateful that Ethan got to run off. He agress that this show is a family. He mentioned the returns of Tyler Hoechlin and Colton Haynes and the fans roar. He says all of the actors agreed they had to come back for the fans.

To Shelly: “Is this the right end for Malia?”

Shelly says that her ending was one that she never could have predicted. Malia’s biggest challenge was just fitting into the pack. To see the trajectory of the character is fun, but she never would’ve predicted it.

“I’ve been very blessed for that.”

Jeff Davis introduces audition tapes from the early years.

Old Footage

Posey auditions reading lines from his first scene with Allison, and it’s tied together with footage from the first episode. 

Dylan Sprayberry is the next audition video, and he talks about his skateboarding history where he hit his head. 

The crowd goes wild as Dylan O’Brian comes on the screen, followed by Mr. Stiles’ original audition.

The audition tape comes on for Colton Haynes and everybody loses it. It’s followed by the first Liam audition with Stiles and Scott. 

There’s now a montage of many auditions, including Tyler Hoechlin. The footage ends with Allison accepting Scott’s invite for their first date.

Relationships

Cody is asked if Theo and Malia should end up together and he asks the crowd. Everybody screams. Cody teases that his favorite scene is coming in the series finale this Summer.

Tyler is asked when he knew that this job was going to be something more. He says that he loved it from the moment that he booked it because it was his first leading role. Tyler starts talking about meeting Dylan O’Brien and he starts to get choked up about their history. He says the two talked about moving in together when they landed the roles. He felt that going into it, it was never going to just be a job.

Dylan O is asked what moment made him realize that Teen Wolf would be something special, something more than a job.

Dylan said that it was always more because this was so new and it was hit first real job out of high school.

“This show became my entire school. This is where I learned.”

He said that this show and that Stiles was always his home. No matter what other roles he got, this was where he felt at home. 

As Jeff Davis talks about the show and the cast growing together, Tyler Posey is holding back tears.

Messages

Jeff Davis shares messages from Holland and Colton who couldn’t be at the panel in San Diego.

Holland thanks the crowd and says she misses them. Colton, in his home, rises from the floor with blonde hair. He is wearing the Stiles jacket from Season 1 and he introduces a new clip.

Doors open in the school and Colton Haynes walks back into Beacon Hills with Charlie Carver. They’re looking for Scott and ask someone for help. 

Cut to the two characters being tortured by getting water thrown on them and slightly electrocuted.
