The most-talked about ending in the finale was that massive scene that took place just before the credits. The Night King used the undead Viserion to blast a massive hole in the wall, tearing down an entire section of the 8,000-year-old structure.

Just as the wall went crumbling down, the army of the dead began marching through it. The Night King is leading his horde into Westeros to kill the living. This is the true beginning of The Great War.

While that’s the most memorable of the season endings, there were a few other wrap-up scenes that definitely need to be broken down again.

Jon and Daenerys

Jon Snow and Daenerysย have been building towards a relationship all season and their big moment finally came during the finale. The duo finally became a couple in Dany’s room on the boat, but their relationship isn’t as simple as they think.

Just as they start to get together, Bran and Sam discover that Jon is actually the son of Rhaegarย Targaryen and Lyannaย Stark, making him the nephew of Daenerys. Not only that, but Jon’s parents were actually married, making him the true heir to the Iron Throne.

So, instead of lovers coming together for the same cause, Jon and Danyย are relatives, both with a claim to the same throne.

This tangled web only gets more complicated when you factor in Tyrion’s appearance outside of Dany’sย room. He watched as the two went inside, knowing what they were about to do. Some believe that Tyrionย is actually in love with Daenerys, while others think that he has some sort of plan in the works that no one else knows about.

When Jon and Danyย arrive at Winterfell, Bran will likely tell them about Jon’s lineage, and all kinds of issues will arise.

Sansa and Arya

Speaking of Winterfell, Sansa and Aryaย actually ended things on a bit of a high note this season. With the help of all-seeing brother Bran, the Stark sisters finally brought justice to Littlefinger.

After stopping Baelish, the duo were seen standing on the wall of Winterfell, looking out over the snow.

This scene teased a trust between the two sisters that hasn’t ever really been there before. They stood united, in the exact same place that Sansaย and Jon stood after defeating Ramsay together in Season 6.ย

Aryaย also brought things back to their Stark roots by telling Sansaย that “In winter, we must protect ourselves – look after one another.” This is something Ned said to Aryaย back in the first season, referring to her relationship with Sansa.

All of the living Starksย are united heading into Season 8, and they’ll need to be if they’re going to hold off the Night King.

Jaime and Cersei

While some relationships on a high note, the same fate wasn’t in store for Jaime and Cersei.ย

The twins-turned-lovers have had each other’sย backs since the very beginning of the series, but that ended when Cerseiย double-crossed all of humanity. She revealed that she was lying to Daenerysย and that she was planning on leaving them out to dry when the Night King came.ย

Jaime has finally had enough, and he decided to leave Cerseiย in King’s Landing. There is some honor left in the knight, as he rode off to help in The Great War.

Perhaps the most important part of Jaime and Cersei’s break-up was what awaited Jaime outside of the castle. As he got ready to ride off, snowflakes began to fall.

It took seven seasons, but Winter has finally arrived in Westeros, and the Night King along with it.
