After stunning fans with his breakthrough performance as the titular character in Dexter, Michael C. Hall is going to Netflix for his next big project.
Hall will star in Safe, an upcoming thriller series from the streaming service due in 2018. This will be Hall’s first starring TV role since Dexter ended in 2013.

As Variety reports, Hall’s character is “a British pediatric surgeon raising two teenage daughters, Jenny and Carrie, alone after the death of his wife.”
The plot will center around the family’s life in a gated community, which gets upended when a murder and disappearance occurs at a party one of the daughters sneaks out to.

In addition to Hall, the show will star Sherlock‘s Amanda Abbington. The series will be eight episodes, all of which have been scripted by Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst, and will be spearheaded by author Harlan Coben.
Production on Safe has already began on the show, as Hall has been spotted filming in Manchester, England.

Since the Dexter wrapped up, he has performed in the theatrical productions Hedwig and the Angry Itch and Lazarus. He’s also dabbled in voiceover work, voicing a recurring character in the kids show Star vs. the Forces of Evil and narrating some documentary projects.
Earlier this year, it was announced that he would be appearing on the Netflix drama The Crown as President John F. Kennedy.
