The affidavit obtained by Times Free Press says he “tossed the lifeless victim who was completely unclothed into [the woman’s] arms and fled the scene.”
The two surviving children were hospitalized and taken into custody of Child Protective Services. They both showed signs of neglect, malnourishment and possible abuse.
Investigators searched the family’s apartment and found that the conditions were “atrocious.” One of the rooms was covered in feces and urine, while the refrigerator was completely empty.
McCullough was charged with criminal homicide and three counts of aggravated child neglect. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond. Tollett was charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect, and has a $300,000 bond.
McCullough and Tollett were both investigated for child abuse back in 2012, but the charges were dropped.
