New Netflix Original Comedy Specials Coming in September
With the announcement this year that Ellen DeGeneres is mounting a return to stand-up by filming [...]
Jerry Before Seinfeld
Premiere Date: September 19th
Jerry Seinfeld is most well-known for his iconic sitcom, Seinfeld. Spanning 180 episodes over nine seasons, the 1990s series has already sealed it's place as one of the greatest TV shows of all-time.
The series focused on Seinfeld and his friends George Costanza (played by Jason Alexander) and Elaine Benes (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus), as well as his neighbor across the hall Cosmo Kramer (played by Michael Richards). Every episode was a small window into the hilariously neurotic lives the four of them led.
Before the show, and afterward for that matter, Jerry Seinfeld stands atop a legacy of his world-class stand-up comedy. Next month, Seinfeld returns to the stage in his special Jerry Before Seinfeld which sees the comedian get back to his roots.
Jeff Dunham: Relative Disaster
Premiere Date: September 12th
Jeff Dunham emerged on the comedy scene a few decades ago, and has continued climbing to the top with unique brand of ventriloquist humor ever since.
Not content with using just one dummy to build his show around, Dunham has close to a dozen different puppets that he uses in his stage show.
To date, Dunham has six major comedy special: Arguing with Myself, Spark of Insanity, Jeff Dunham's Very Special Christmas Special, Controlled Chaos, Minding the Monsters and All Over the Map.
Next month, he adds Relative Disaster to that already impressive list. Make sure to queue this up when it drops.
Marc Maron: Too Real
Premiere Date: September 5th
Marc Maron is the host of WTF Podcast, which is maybe the most popular comedy podcast around. He's branched out and interviewed high-profile guests beyond just other comedians, however, even once having former President Barack Obama on.
He also spent four seasons on his own critically acclaimed IFC show, Maron, which just had its series finale last year. You can stream that entire series on Netflix while you wait for him to drop Too Real next month.
Additionally, Maron's last special, Thinky Pain, is also available to stream on Netflix, and if that's still not enough Marc Maron for you, he's featured in the streaming giant's new hit series GLOW, as well.
