Ink Master has always been known for bringing viewers some insane artwork, but the next episode of Spike’s reality series is looking to pack an emotional punch as well.
In the preview for this week’s episode, the judges reveal that one of the challenges that the artists will face is a bit of a tear-jerker — the teams will need to tattoo an exact replica of a loved one’s condition.

Basically, everyone getting a tattoo in this episode has a loved one with some kind of medical condition. Out of love and solidarity, these folks are hoping to get replicas of those conditions tattooed on their bodies.
The canvases walk into the shop with a loved one — most of them children — at their sides. A father speaks up first, revealing that he wants a tattoo of his son’s insulin pump.
A couple of other canvases speak up in the commercial, asking for exact copies of the scars on the bodies of their young children. One little girl has a scar across her stomach, while a boy has a zipper scar running down his chest.
The preview for the episode ends with a couple of the artists getting emotional as they listen to the stories behind the art.
Be sure to tune in to an all-new episode of Ink Master: Shop Wars, Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET on Spike.
