Sometimes there is nothing better than a good ol’ fashion showdown. Although gunslinging was how this used to go down, that probably would not sit well with many people these days. So what arena is best these days for taking the gloves off and putting the dukes up? Twitter of course! And toss in two huge fast food chains and you have a Twitter feud that is pure gold.
Recently, a Twitter follower tweeted about the specific price points for a meal, and almost immediately both Hardee’s and Wendy’s swooped in. Both went into the Thunderdome, and only one came out.

@jstaff15 @phelps_ryan @Hardees We usually prefer the original to a knock off, but hey, you do you.

We love to cover some good fast food stories, but nothing compares to the battle royale we are seeing here. Wendy’s has gone for Hardee’s jugular and they are building more dedicated followers because of it. Only just a few years ago, we probably would not see a global company like this get so aggressive on Twitter. BUT, this is good old-fashioned fun. It’s playful. Nothing more.
@Wendys @jstaff15 @phelps_ryan Just because you were first doesn’t mean you’re best.
โ Hardee’s (@Hardees) April 10, 2017
But where things turned not so playful when Hardee’s blocked Wendy’s. Safe to say that by that point, things got real and playtime was officially over.
@Hardees @jstaff15 @phelps_ryan lol They blocked us.

The really fun part about all of this? The two fast food companies weren’t the only ones looking to get in on the action. Followers and even other fast food brands tossed their hats into the ring.
โ
Followers immediately pounced on the conversation and started commentating on how Wendy’s was going so hard against Hardee’s. Honestly, it is shocking to see a global brand like this not give one rip and just go for it. But all we have to say is “well played, PR team.”
@Wendys @jstaff15 @phelps_ryan @Hardees shiiit two social media jobs go head on! Mr/Ms Wendy’s PR, you get to keep your job another day ?

As the conversation carried on, things definitely “got real” and fans could not get enough of it.
And come on Hardee’s, there HAS to be a “deez nuts” joke in here somewhere. A little over the line for a brand to tweet? Probably. But hey, Wendy’s decided to go for it… so can you.ย
@Wendys @jstaff15 @phelps_ryan @Hardees shit gettin real

There have been some seriously bizarre things to come from the fast food industries — Burger King’s Cheetoย macaroni snacks being a biggie — but this social media battle to the death ranks up there at the top.ย
โ
As Wendy’s continued to go “straight savage” on their competitor, the conversation got blown up so much on social media that other companies decided they wanted to join the party as well.ย
@Wendys @Hardees @jstaff15 @phelps_ryan @Wendys is straight savage

WILD CARD! Checker’s and Rally’sย popped into the conversation to have the final combo-breaker of the conversation. So this went from Wendy’s playfully tagging Hardee’s to Hardee’sย blocking them to Checker’s and Rally’sย dropping in for a quick glove slap. Mark this Twitter feudย under your favorites, it is definitely worth revisiting. ย
@rosstronot It’s actually 4 for $3 but you do you. Some like spending more.
