As with most of Mia Khalifa’s tweets, her note about sports commentator Danny Kanell was met with a mixed response from her Twitter followers and fans. While some echoed Mia’s sentiment in expressing their frustration with ESPN for firing about a hundred of its employees, others lashed out at Khalifa.
Earlier this week, John Skipper, the network president of ESPN, released a message to announce that the company was going through with its massive round of layoffs.
“A necessary component of managing change involves constantly evaluating how we best utilize all of our resources, and that sometimes involves difficult decisions,” Skipper wrote.
This was clearly a difficult decision made my Skipper that Mia Khalifa did not agree with.
Given that she has been building a reputation as a sports commentator and avid fan herself, one Twitter user suggested that Mia ought to try and take over a position at ESPN.

Mia Khalifa regularly takes to social media to comment on sports. She also gets into heated Twitter battles with athletes such as Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid.
Judging by her tweet about ESPN, Mia Khalifa is highly upset about some of the employees fired by the sports network, and it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to see her get into a fierce Twitter battle defending Danny Kanell.
ESPN’s John Skipper explained why the company felt forced to lay off so many employees.
“Our content strategy — primarily illustrated in recent months by melding distinct, personality-driven SportsCenter TV editions and digital-only efforts with our biggest sub-brand — still needs to go further, faster … and as always, must be efficient and nimble,” he said. “Dynamic change demands an increased focus on versatility and value, and as a result, we have been engaged in the challenging process of determining the talent — anchors, analysts, reporters, writers and those who handle play-by-play — necessary to meet those demands. We will implement changes in our talent lineup this week. A limited number of other positions will also be affected and a handful of new jobs will be posted to fill various needs.”
