An all-new Hulu documentary called Becoming Bond documents in graphic detail how George Lazenby landed the role of James Bond after Sean Connery.

Lazenby revealed that he conned his way to stardom through deceit and sex that sounded like a stunt taken directly from the 007 playbook.

The producers of the Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, cast Lazenby who was a high school failure and used car salesman with no acting experience. One of the first “tests” that Lazenby passed was when the producers, Harry Saltzman and Cubby Broccoli, sent a prostitute to his room.

Lazenby said a man and woman showed up to his room. The man then told him that the woman wanted to have sex with him. Lazenby believed that the man was trying to initiate a three-way.

“I thought he was going second,” Lazenby said. “I thought he was a bloody pervert.”

The man later explained to Lazenby: “The studio thought you were gay, and you’re not.”

“I had no idea it was a test,” George Lazenby said. “I just thought I got lucky.”

Once the time came around for filming, Lazenby’s sexual encounters would only become more frequent. He explained that he ruined an opportunity to have a brief fling with co-star Diana Rigg because he was having sex with all of the other women on the shoot, according to Daily Mail.

Despite the fact that he secured the role of James Bond on nothing more than good looks and sex appeal, Lazenby went on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for Best Newcomer. However, he shocked the world when he turned down a $1 million contract to appear in six more Bond films. The amount was unheard of at the time.

In the Hulu documentary, George Lazenby admitted that rejecting the offer was a “mistake.”

“It was a mistake but in a way this is who I am. I don’t know why, it doesn’t make sense to some people, they say he’s crazy, but I lived my life the way I wanted to,” he said.

“It’s very hard for people to understand that living life on your own terms in your own way is much fuller…I may not be great, but I’m an original.”

In the upcoming Hulu documentary, Lazenby revealed that he had his first sexual experience at the age of 15. He dated a 23-year-old girl that lived next door, and Lazenby said he had his first orgasm after doing the deed in his car.

“All of a sudden something took over my body, I was in space,” he said. “It was the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life. I went, ‘Holy sh*t.’ I thought I’d blown my penis apart. I got out of the car and struck a match to see if everything was still there.”

“I couldn’t wait to get back in the car and have another one. I ended up going down to her place every night until a school teacher wrote a letter to my family that I couldn’t keep my eyes open during class.”

Lazenby also spoke out about how his sexual conquests during his youth were part of the culture.

“It was a different era, it was make love, not war,” he said. “I was a 24-year-old crazy Australian and some girls were attracted to it. It was the craziest sexual time I’ve ever had. The women in the 1960s were just as sexual oriented as the men, and they were breaking out.”

After potraying James Bond, George Lazenby said that fame had a peculiar effect on him.

“It’s a fascinating experience, fame. It changed my life in a lots of ways. People would offer me money to show up at their party. It’s not me, I knew that. It’s James Bond, it’s not George Lazenby. You think you’re somebody until the rug gets pulled out from under you.”
