This week, Washington, D.C., made headlines for a very disturbing reason. The city’s Metropolitan Police Department recently began tweeting out missing-persons reports and the majority of these were of young black and Latina women.
Although, officials have insisted that the numbers reflect only the fact that the department recently started using social media to help close cases, many have come out to voice concerns over the large number of missing women of color.

As a result, many individuals have taken to social media to express their disdain about what they consider a continued oversight of related awareness.
And even people with a platform have come out to express their concerns including celebrities like Taraji P. Henson, Kris Jenner, Viola Davis and more.
