One of the Internet's most notoriously cranky felines recently took a trip to the White House. On Thursday, Grumpy Cat posted a hilarious selfie outside of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to commemorate the special occasion.

The Grumpy Cat Twitter account shared the snapshot of the notoriously grumpy feline, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, in front of the White House's gates.

This actually wasn't the first time that Grumpy Cat has been linked to the White House.

In 2015, to celebrate National Cat Day, the White House twitter account tweeted a side-by-side photo of Grumpy cat and President Barack Obama with the caption: "Happy #NationalCatDay!"

Also in 2015, President Obama gave the peeved pet a shout out when he called Republicans "gloomy," and stated that "They are like Grumpy Cat."

Grumpy Cat first became an internet sensation back in 2012 after a humorous picture of the frowning feline was shared on Reddit. Now, the animal has become an online phenomenon with over 8.7 millioin Facebook followers and more than 456k followers on Twitter. In addition to the online popularity, fans can also purchase books, T-shirts, mugs, and cat food that features Grumpy Cat.

After the trip to the White House, Grumpy Cat has a busy schedule coming up. The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Grumpy Cat will be joining the cast of the Broadway musical "Cats" at the Neil Simon Theatre.

A spokesperson for the show stated that the frowning feline "will be worked into the end of the show and will become an honorary Jellicle Cat."
