Watchers on the Wall has received word from "reliable sources" that 13-year-old English actor Sebastian Croft has been cast as young Ned Stark in Season 6 of Game of Thrones.

Croft is an experienced theater actor, having performed in London West End productions of Matilda and Les Miserables, and starred in the UK national tour of Oliver! and the musical version of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ at the Leicester Curve.

If the rumor is true, it confirms fan suspicions that began with a casting call sent out in May, which sought a young boy with brown hair, green eyes, a narrow face, who could use a Northern accent. The character is said to be sparring with an older boy in the scene. The description seemed to fit a young Ned Stark, and spurred speculation of a scene flashing back to the character's childhood.

Ned Stark was played by Sean Bean in the first season of Game of Thrones. The Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere was the first to feature a flashback scene, showing an encounter with a fortunetelling witch from Cersei Lannister's childhood.

Game of Thrones Season 6 will air on HBO in 2016.
