“I’ll be ready. Are you ready? #WhatAboutUs video premiere now on @Vevo,” she captioned the clip.
Just by taking a scroll through the comments section, it’s clear to see that Pink’s fans were overcome with excitement to see the new video.
“You have smashed it again. A beautifully heart-wrenching song,” one fan wrote.
“Love this video so so much,” another commented. “And the song itself left me with goosebumps. I hope the album will be as great.”
The song was released last Thursday on August 10 and quickly rose to be No. 1 on the Official trending Chart, according to officialcharts.com. It is the lead single from Pink‘s upcoming seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, which is set for release on October 13.
“What About Us” marked Pink’s highest debut of her 22 career entries on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs, coming in at No. 18.
In regards to the subject matter for the tune, one could take the lyrics to be in reference to a turbulent relationship. However, the music video suggests that the lyrics are in reference to the current political climate.
During the election process, the mother of two was outspoken in her support of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Beautiful Trauma is Pink’s first album in five years. Her previous release was 2012’s The Truth About Love.
