A model who grew to fame through her Instagram account is going viral over her pregnancy size.
Hannah Polites has over 1.2 million follows on Instagram and she is currently six months pregnant with her first child. Like many expectant moms, she likes to share photos of herself as her pregnancy progresses an she's racked up thousands of comments—some offering well-wishes and support and other not so much.
Some comments written under photos she's shared include: "That's 6 months pregnant? Is it a gerbil?" "this model is 3 months along no joke... Just take a seat already," and more harsh comments like, "You are killing your baby."
Polites isn't about to let those negative comments get her down or make her feel bad about herself, her body or her baby.
"It's truly shocking to read some of the comments regarding my health and that of my unborn baby, especially at a time where women are particularly vulnerable and can be more sensitive to bullying," Polites told Gold Coast Bulletin.
"I do not take the negative comments to heart, especially when I know I am making informed decisions when it comes to nutrition and exercise in pregnancy and motherhood," she continues.
"For the record, doctors have told me bub is healthy," Polites also told Gold Coast Bulletin. "All women's bodies should be celebrated, especially at a time of pregnancy."
She also shared that despite the hundreds of negative comments, there are others that are far more positive—full of well-wishes and congratulations.
"I will continue to post photos of my body as I feel that it's important to be a positive role model in the community."
