Janet Jackson's going to be a mom, at 50 years old, and there have been very few details surrounding the pop star's journey to motherhood so far.
Recently, though, Janet's brother Tito Jackson confirmed that the star isn't using a surrogate. Janet announced back in April that she would be taking a break from her Unbreakable tour due to doctor's orders, and at the time said she was planning a family with her husband. She was decidedly vague on the details, but Tito has confirmed that Janet is carrying the baby herself, according to PEOPLE.
Janet's decision to become a mother has been in the works for some time, and according to E! News, she and her husband worked with a fertility specialist for some time to help her finally make that dream come true. In May, a source told E! that Janet was in her second trimester, and Tito recently confirmed that Janet's doing well.
“She’s doing very well. She’s taking it easy,” Tito, 62, said on Monday’s edition of SirusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “As you know, she is off tour, protecting her health.”
He also told Cohen that Janet and her husband don't know the sex of the baby, they are just hoping for a healthy child.
Tito's not the only Jackson brother who is excited for Janet's foray into motherhood. Jermaine Jackson, 61, recently expressed his confidence in her ability to raise a child, saying "She’ll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict. But I tell her, ‘If you need any parenting skills or baby skills, let me know because I’m the best diaper changer there is on this planet, still to this day.’ ”
