Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Baywatch were set on a box office collision course for the four-day Memorial Day weekend, but it seems that Pirates of the Caribbean is easily blowing the competition out of the water.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is expected to have a four-day weekend box office total of at least $75 million and possibly closer to $80 million.

Meanwhile, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Effron are leading Baywatch to a $21 million opening weekend.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales earned $5.5 million in Thursday night preview showings before adding another $16 million in its official Friday opening at 4,276 locations.
Baywatch began showing on Wednesday and earned just $4.5 million by the end of Thursday and another $5.5 million on Friday at 3,647 locations. Altogether, Baywatch‘s total will likely stand at about $25 million by the end of the long weekend.
With Baywatch sinking in its opening weekend, Disney is likely to claim the top two spots at the box office for Memorial Day with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales at number one, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in second place with $26 million in its fourth weekend at the box office. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earned $6 million from 3,871 locations on Friday.
Last week’s box office winner, Alien: Covenant, will drop all the way to fourth place. In its second weekend, Alien: Covenant will add just $14 million to its box office total, bringing it to $60 million.
Teen romance Everything, Everything looks to round out the top five this week. After debuting at the number three spot last weekend, Everything, Everything looks to add an additional $9 million over the long Memorial Day weekend. That will bring the film’s box office total to $24 million.

Johnny Depp, Kevin McNally, and Geoffrey Rush reprise their roles as Jack Sparrow, Joshamee Gibbs, and Hector Barbossa, respectively. New Pirates of the Caribbean stars include Javier Bardem as Armando Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner and Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales also features the returns of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann respectively after they both skipped Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
