Beauty and the Beast has cracked the list of 10 highest-grossing films of all time worldwide. As of this weekend, Beauty and the Beast‘s worldwide box office total stands at $1.221 billion, with $497.8 million domestic and $724 million international. That’s enough to knock Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3, with its worldwide box office total of $1.214 billion, out of the top 10.

Boasting a production budget of $160 million, Beauty and the Beast is the most expensive movie musical ever made. Within 10 days of its release, Beauty and the Beast past Mamma Mia! to become the highest-grossing live-action movie musical of all time and the second-highest-movie musical overall, behind Disney’s own hit animated musical Frozen.

Beauty and the Beast is a live-action remake of the 1993 Academy Award-winning Disney animated Beauty and the Beast movie. The live-action version of Beauty and the Beast features the original songs, plus some new ones, by Alan Menken.
