Last week, director David F. Sandberg teased audiences about the sequence with a message he posted on Twitter.
Yes. A little mid credit thing and then another thing after all the credits. https://t.co/NV7kmwFuXe

Interestingly, the director made sure to point out that the sequences in question weren’t his idea, but potentially came from the studio’s directives.
The post credit scene wasn’t my idea, no. But I like it.

Now that the film is in theaters, you can check out the sequences for yourselves, but for those of you who are just dying to know what he meant, scroll down.
A Familiar Face

Once the events of the film have wrapped up and the credits have finished rolling, fans who have seenย The Conjuring 2ย will be treated to a familiar face looming from the darkness.
In a shot that looks down a candle-lined hallway (a cathedral?), the candles begin to flicker and go out, andย a figure floats out from the darkness. That figure is the demonic nun that tormented Lorraine Warren inย Theย Conjuring 2, with this scene reminding audiences that we’ll be gettingย The Nunย spinoff movieย next summer.
It’s not hard to imagine the studio wanting it’s own Marvel-style button scene system for its variousย Conjuringย spinoffs – and that’s exactly what we got.
Danger Looms

The post-credits scene isn’t the only appearance The Nun has in Annabelle: Creation,ย as she plays a pivotal roleย in other sequences during the film:ย
Dark History
The first time we see demonic Nun is early on, when the kindly Sister Charlotte (Stephanie Sigman) is moving her orphan girls into the house of Samuel (Anthony LaPaglia)ย and Esther (Miranda Otto) Mullins. Sister Charlotte keepsย a photo of her best friends from the convent where she trained, and Mr. Mullins notices something strange about thatย photo: When tilted away from the light, a dark shadow behind the happy nunsย in the picture reveals the chalky white face of the demonic nun, lurking close by.
The implication is that this particular demon is tied to Sister Charlotte and her personal history – which would explain why the good nun is able to later confront and trap the Annabelle demon.
Honor Among Demons
The second time the Nun appears, it’s more of a direct contact: After being fully crippled by the Annabelle demon, young Janice (Talithaย Bateman) is sitting in the yard of the Mullins’ house, solemnly trying to adjust to her new reality of being in a wheel chair. Suddenly, a figure with chalky hands and legs, dressed in a Nun’s outfit is behind Janice, and wheels her into the nearby barn. Locked in that dark place, Janice is finally fully possessed by the black and yellow-eyed demon pretending to be the ghost of Annabelle. It seems honor and cooperation amongst demons is a legit thing.
