Rockers are often said to live a fast and crazy lifestyle and the new book Meet Me in the Bathroom: Rebirth and Rock and Roll in New York City 2001-2011 by Lizzy Goodman validates that claim.
The book is quite telling, giving details about the behind-the-scenes action that occurred in the rock and roll scene. The book reveals some wild details including sex and drugs and even mentions who is involved.

It sheds new light on the notoriously louche scene in London which came to be known as the Primrose Hill Set and saw Moss and her friends indulge in a fast-living party lifestyle.

At the center of this crazy lifestyle were were then married couple Jude Law and Sadie Frost.
Rockers would often hang out in the couple’s London home, particularly in their children’s playhouse, which was a rather popular spot for playing guitar, having sex, and getting high on MDMA.
It was where guitarist Anthony Rossomando, the founding member of Dirty Pretty Things and stand-in guitarist for The Libertines, would make the British supermodel Kate Moss his sexual conquest “for America.”
“I first met Kate Moss up at Sadie’s. There was a kiddie slide, and in the morning, we’d be all high on MDMA [Ecstasy], in a little kiddie house playing guitars,” he said.
“I was involved with some very weird things at her place, like a threesome on the top floor with her friend, and I look up and there’s pictures of Jude Law and her and the kids on the wall, and I’m like, ‘What am I doingโฆ,’” Rossomando said.
He continued, “She was so up for it, those Londoners are up for it. But Kate, I cheated on my girlfriend with Kate. I f****ed up in the biggest way possible. So why did I do it?”
“Because Brendan Benson and Jack White grabbed me at the bar at the Dorchester and said, ‘You’re the one, do it for the USA,’” he said.

Law and Frost divorced in 2003 after claims of ‘wife-swapping’ among the Primrose Hill set – a reference to a tony area of North London.
The early 2000s marked a time when bands such as The Strokes, The Libertines, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were reviving the post-punk scene, and Moss wasn’t the only celebrity rubbing elbows with rock stars.
Between 2002 and 2007, actress Drew Barrymore was linked to The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, after she asked to meet them backstage at Coachella.
Ryan Gentles, the band’s manager, told in the book how Barrymore and Moretti’s long-term relationship began after a casual hook-up at the festival.
“She wanted to come and see the band, so the manager goes, ‘I’m going to take her back to the trailer,’ and nobody was there except Fab,” he said.
“I was like ‘oh, I don’t know where they are; well, Fab, this is your friend Drew Barrymore,’ and it was like, ‘Oh, nice to meet you. I’ll go get the rest of the guys, hang out here, have a beer,’” Moretti said.
“She just came by herself. We left for like twenty minutes, Strokes played their set, and when Oasis took the stage, Fab was making out with Drew Barrymore on the side of the stage. Then they dated for five years.”
Two days later, the actress sent a bouquet of flowers to their publicist’s office with a cryptic message, “From someone, thanks so much.”

After the debut of their first album, The Strokes shot to fame and developed a following which included a “cadre of comedians and SNL cast as fans, like David Cross, Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon.”
Cross recalled how there was “a lot of making out,” though not sexually, within the band and revealed he shared a kiss with frontman Julian Casablancas.
“I remember being in that bar upstairs at Irving Plaza and Julian kissed me, and I’m going, ‘Whoa, what the f**k?’” he said.
“But also having this crazy rush of emotions, because I know he’s not gay, and I’m thinking, ‘oh, that was f***ed up, that was weird, but I guess it wasn’t really unpleasant. That’s nothing I’d ever do again, I don’t think. Huh, that was interesting.’”
Cross revealed “It was my Bowie/Mick Jagger moment.”
Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. also revealed he made out with comedian Andy Dick.
“I always found it funny to kiss men,” he said. “I like how weird people get. I revel in their weirded-outness”
Cross soon developed a friendship with the band with whom he smoked crystal meth and once opened a gig for them at the Apollo Theater.
The Pierces singer Catherine Pierce also admitted she unwittingly smoked the drug with Cross and the band.
“I did ridiculous things with those guys; I smoked crystal meth with them. I didn’t know it was crystal meth!,” she said. “I was such an idiot. David invited them all over, and he was like ‘I have this stuff called glass,’ and I was like, ‘What’s glass? That sounds pretty.’”

In another interview, Rough Trade Records Manager Kelly Kiley told Goodman about the love triangle that came between The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi, British actress Amanda de Cadenet and fashion designer Pearl Lowe.
De Cadenet had found herself in the spotlight in the 1990s after she became pregnant and married Duran Duran bassist John Taylor at age 19 and was often seen “stumbling around with Courtney Love.”
“Nick has a thing for older blond women. Before Amanda he was dating Pearl Lowe, who was married to one of the guys in the British band Supergrass,” Jim Merlis said.
Kiley confirmed that although Valensi was young, “he was totally into” Pearl.
“She used to turn up at the hotel and they’d disappear together. That went on for quite a while, until Amanda,” she said.
“I remember, later, Amanda was at the NME Awards, and Pearl was there,” she said. “She was saying to me, ‘I can’t believe Amanda stole my man, she’s one of my best friends.’”
