With all the effects that studios have at their disposal, it is stunning to see what they can achieve. It doesn't start off that way however, and half the fun is seeing just how they are able to make that magic happen on screen.

Included here are a few scene comparisons from some of your favorite films, showing just how far these things come before they grace your screen. Some of these before shots are hilarious, especially when they involve animals. For instance, on has Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke petting a dragon, but it started out as her just petting this weird round neon green thing with red arrows on it. The same with Twilight's Kristen Stewart scene with Jacob (in wolf form). Originally it featured Stewart just petting the head of a normal guy in a gray motion-capture suit.

Films and TV shows that you never really thought CGI would be heavily involved in pop up as well, such as Boardwalk Empire, Wolf of Wall Steet, and Ugly Betty. It also features a lot of people staring at blank screens. You can see more of the shots in the gallery.
