Actor Robert Guillaume was battling prostate cancer at the time of his death, but now a more definite cause of death has been revealed.
The Soap star died of cardiopulmonary arrest at age 89, according to the death certificate obtained by The Blast.

Ahead of the heart attack, Guillaume was diagnosed with hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and dementia. He also had a pacemaker installed.

While it was originally reported that he died in his own home in Los Angeles, the certificate also says he died at the home of a friend.
Guillaume was best known for his role as Benson in Soap and its spin-off Benson. He also voiced Rafiki in The Lion King and appeared as Isaac Jaffe in Sports Night.
He also had on-screen roles in Lean on Me, Big Fish and Spy Hard.
After his death, numerous famous friends and admirers spoke out with kind remarks on the late actor.

“Robert Guillaume radiated such warmth, light, dignity, and above all, class,” Sports Night star Josh Charles wrote. “That smile and laugh touched us all. RIP to the best boss ever. Making him laugh gave me such pleasure. Remembering those moments now, I’m tearing up. I loved that man. My thoughts are with his family.”
Outside of acting, Guillaume was involved in campaigns for the American Stroke Association after suffering a stroke on the Sports Night set in 1999.
