Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Make Shocking Move Out of US

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the United Kingdom six years after stepping away from the royal lifestyle and leaving for the United States.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are relocating with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, for an “extended period” beginning this month, PEOPLE reports. The kids are set to begin school there in September.

Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, will keep their home in Montecito, Calif., as well as their vacation home in Portugal, while they establish a private, non-royal home base in Britain. It will be the couple’s first home in Britain since they gave up Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor residence gifted to them by Queen Elizabeth, in 2023.

King Charles reportedly learned about the couple’s plans on Sunday, and welcomes the opportunity to see more of his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. He has reportedly been clear that there will be no change to Harry and Meghan’s status as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.

Earlier this summer, Harry and Meghan returned to the U.K. with Archie and Lilibet for a successful summer visit that marked the kids’ first reunion with their grandfather in more than four years.

Meghan is reportedly eyeing a return to acting. Australian outlet News.com.au reported Friday morning that she has been “offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K.” Variety confirmed the report.

After shooting to fame as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits from 2011 to 2018, Meghan largely stepped back from acting after marrying Harry in 2018. She has recently hosted the Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, which launched her brand As Ever, and appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia. She’s set to make a cameo as herself in the new Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends with Brie Larson and Lily Collins.
