Singer Natalie Cole’s son, Robert Yancy, was found dead in his apartment Monday night, TMZ reports.
Yancy was just 39 years old.

His body was found in his home in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles when a friend checked up on him after not hearing from him for a few days.
Authorities contacted family members early Tuesday morning and reportedly said Yancy died of a heart attack. Pending an autopsy, his cause of death has been listed as natural causes, but it may change once the autopsy and toxicology reports are finished.
According to the outlet, authorities were clear in saying that drugs weren’t involved. Yancy’s mother famously battled drug addiction throughout her life until she died in 2015 of congestive heart failure.
Yancy, the grandson of Nat King Cole, has reportedly never abused drugs, family members say, and he was “turning his life around.” His father reportedly died of a heart attack at age 34.
