Caitlyn Jenner Teases Possible Run for Congress

The presidency of Donald Trump has led to a number of unlikely celebrity candidates eyeing political bids, and you can now add Caitlyn Jenner to that list of political hopefuls.

During an interview with NYC's AM 970, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star weighed in on the question of her political aspirations.

"The political side of it has always been very intriguing to me," she said. "Over the next six months or so, I gotta find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside? Kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talking to anybody? Or are you better from the inside? And we are in the process of determining that."

She added, "I would look for a senatorial run."

Jenner has been a long-time Republican, and she would aim to run in the party. The former Olympic athlete has high hopes of reforming the party's stance on social issues.

"The perception of the Republican Party is that they are all about rich white guys trying to make money," she said. "I hope to change the perception of the Republican Party and make it the party of equality."

She followed up those comments with Us Weekly during the Starkey Hearing Foundation Gala in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

When asked about running for office, she said "You never know, baby! Wouldn't be surprised!"

This wouldn't be the first time Jenner has gotten political. After the Trump administration withdrew Obama's guidance on transgender bathroom use in public schools, she was outraged and took to Twitter to vent her frustration.

"I have a message for President Trump from well, one Republican to another," she said. "This is a disaster. And you can still fix it. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community."

She then sent some inspiring words to the young people affected by the administration's decision and sounded like a politician in the process.

"I have a message for the trans kids of America. You're winning. I know it doesn't feel like it today or every day, but you're winning," Jenner said. "Very soon we will win full freedom nationwide and it's going to be with bipartisan support. You can help by checking out the National Center for Transgender Equality and letting Washington hear you loud and clear.

"Now I have a message for the bullies: You're sick. And because you're weak, you pick on kids, you pick on women or anyone else you think is vulnerable. Apparently even becoming the attorney general isn't enough to cure some people of their insecurities."
