Hurricane Harvey has devastated portions of Houston, Texas and the surrounding area over the past few days, with residents stranded in their homes and evacuees pouring into shelters around the area.

Footage and photos have been emerging of responders, volunteers and others coming together to help evacuate people from the rising waters. BuzzFeed News reports that there are two confirmed deaths from the hurricane, and that seven other deaths are suspected to be related to the storm, while FEMA’s chief said Sunday that relief operations will be going on for years.

The businesswoman announced on Twitter that she and her family had donated $500,000 to relief efforts, imploring her followers to follow their lead and donate what they can to help.

“It’s heartbreaking to see the devastation in Texas,” she wrote. “Houston we are praying for you!”

J.J. Watt

The Houston Texans defensive end has made a huge impact with his YouCaringย fundraiser, surpassing the $2 million mark and setting a new goal of $3 million on Tuesday, which he has already surpassed โ€” the fundraiser currently sits at over $3.2 million.

Watt, who is currently in Dallas with his team and scheduled to play a football game there on Thursday, shared with The Weather Channel that he plans to use the money raised to buy things like water, cleaning supplies, towels and clothes, which he plans on delivering by semi-truck.

“You feel a little bit helpless,” he said. “I wanted to do whatever we possibly could, and I knew that I wanted to get out in front of it quick. In a situation like this, you want to start raising the money as quickly as you can because I know that these recovery efforts are going to be so massive.

Chris Young

The country singer started a GoFundMeย campaign to help raise funds and donated $100,000 to the effort. The campaign currently sits at over $200,000.

“Port Aransas, Rockport, Corpus Christi, Houston and so many other places are going to be dealing with so much damage and loss of life for a long time to come,” he wrote alongside an Instagram video Sunday. “I’m worriedย about the people there โ€” my friends, family and neighbors โ€” and I want to help.”

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

The power couple shared a video to Instagram Tuesday announcing that they are each donating $25,000 to hurricane relief, including a link to donate to the American Red Cross in the clip’sย caption.

“Seeing these pictures of children and all the footage, it’s just devastating,” Lopez said, “and we just want to do our part to help.”
