Six months ago, Joey Feek passed away after a battle with cancer. Her grave is located on the Feek family farm in Tennessee, but it isn’t marked with a traditional gravestone. Instead, husband Rory Feek goes to visit the site where there is only a simple wooden cross, according to PEOPLE.
“I don’t know why, I just can’t” said Rory speaking about why he hasn’t ordered his wife a headstone. “I don’t know if it’s that she’s so simple, and a wooden cross is part of what she would like.”

But a wooden cross isn’t the only thing that sits at Joey Feek’s gravesite, there is also a bench. Every day, Rory goes out to his wife’s grave and sips his morning coffee with her.
“It probably has something to do with permanence,” Rory continued. “so, for now, I can sit out here and feel like it’s โ it’s maybe just temporary. Although I know it’s not.”
PEOPLE also revealed that the singer-songwriter isn’t planning on performing on stage any time soon without his Joey + Rory partner.
“I don’t want to go on stage without her,” Rory admitted. “That’s what I’m thinking about right now. I just don’t want to make music without her. But I also know time changes things. So I won’t say never. It’s just where I am today.”
