The Real Housewives of New Jersey husband will be transferred out of the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to a prison in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, according to documents filed by the U.S. Attorney and obtained by The Blast.

Joe began his 41-month sentence for mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud in March 2016. His wife also served nearly a yearlong stint in prison for the same crimes.
According to the documents, the 45-year-old reality cast member requested the transfer in order to join a residential drug abuse program, but claims he was rejected “as a result of a detainer placed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

Joe was born in Italy and faces the possibility of deportation after he is released from prison.
Documents say Joe will be transferred “soon,” and once in his new facility, “will be able to have a hearing on his immigration status.”
This past season of Real Housewives of New Jersey has focused a fair amount on Teresa’s experience raising her three children alone while Joe serves his time.
“We see him as much as we can,” she told PEOPLE in October. “Their [extracurricular] activities come first โฆ then work, that’s really important for me, I need to work. So I would say we go see him once every two weeks, once every three weeks. It depends on the schedule.”
