Three years after the tragic passing of Robin Williams, his co-star and TV daughter, Sarah Michelle Gellar is honoring his memory with a heartfelt post shared to social media.
On Friday, Gellar took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late actor who played her father on the CBS series, The Crazy Ones, a sitcom about an out-of-the-box mogul who runs an ad agency with his type-A daughter.

Though the series was short lived and canceled after Williams’ untimely passing, the cast and crew were touched by his larger than life presence, including Gellar.
“Robin, we keep you with us this through all the gifts you have left, of which there are many,” she wrote. “So today, watch one of his movies, listen to his comedy specials or quote your favorite joke. You were a comedy genius, a phenomenal actor and a great friend. We miss you everyday, but today especially.”
Williams passed away in 2014 at the age of 63, after taking his own life. Upon learning of his sudden passing, Gellar told PEOPLE her life was better because she knew the iconic comedian.
“To my children he was Uncle Robin, to everyone he worked with, he was the best boss anyone had ever known, and to me he was not just an inspiration but he was the Father I had always dreamed of having,” she said. “There are not enough adjectives to describe the light he was, to anyone that ever had the pleasure to meet him. I will miss him everyday, but I know the memory of him will live on. And to his family, I thank them for letting us know him and seeing the joy they brought him. Us crazy ones love you.”
