Sources close to the situation tell TMZ that the family wants to keep things intimate. They know that fans want to pay their respects and they will figure out a way to make that happen in the future. For now though, the plan is to hold a private ceremony.
In order to keep things private, the family is reportedly not jumping at the offer to take the burial plot next to Chris Cornell at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. While the two singers were close friends, Bennington’s family doesn’t want him to be buried in such a public place.

This kind of private funeral is rare for celebrities. Many famous people will have memorial services that are open to the public, giving their fans a chance to grieve as well.
For now, there’s no word as to when a public service could eventually be held.
