From her scandalous photo shoots to her extreme on-stage behavior, Miley Cyrus has gone to great lengths to shock and surprise her audience. One of the biggest shocks her fans have received lately is the reveal that she is leaving drugs and alcohol behind, something she recently confirmed to Entertainment Tonight.

“I f**king hate it when people can’t adjust. I used to [resist changing]. But I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it]. I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do,” she explained.

The decision to leave drugs behind came from wanting to devote as much of her time to her upcoming projects as possible,as she explained, “I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open.” She added, “And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be.”

In a recent interview for Sirius XM, Cyrus continued to discuss the changes she’s noticed about herself with her new-found sobriety.

“It’s very weird,” Cyrus explained. “I’ve got a lot of energy.”

She continued, “I’m a very obsessive person, which I need to work on, but also it helps in my position to be a little obsessive.”

The singer pointed out, “Because then I can really get things done and make sure it’s perfect.”

For two months, the singer vanished from social media, no longer updating her fans multiple times a day, even with mundane posts. The singer made her return to plug an interview she did with Billboard where she revealed intimate details about every aspect of her life.

It was this interview in which she revealed her sobriety, but by now, it’s been well over a month since the interview initially took place.

“At that point it was like three weeks, now it’s like nine weeks or ten weeks or something,” Cyrus revealed.

Despite always marching to the beat of her own drum, Cyrus revealed people have been quick to offer whatever assistance they could.

The singer explained, “Everyone always hits me up. A lot of people have reached out to me and [ask if I want help].” She continued, “And I’m like, ‘No, when I want something, I can do it.’ Anything that I want to do, if I want to stop or start something, I can do anything.”

The singer went on to explain just how determined she can be and how easy it was for her to let go of using any substances.

“I just decided not to anymore and now it’s easy for me,” she explained.

The singer’s decision to live a substance-free lifestyle isn’t for everybody, and just because she’s begun pursuing that way of life, she understands that some of the people closest to her don’t have to follow in her footsteps. From the sounds of it, she even supports her friends when they choose to imbibe in substances.

“I still roll fat joints for my friends,” Cyrus joked.

Cyrus might have taken a break from social media for almost two months, but that doesn’t mean she dropped off the face of the planet. In fact, she was regularly seen hiking and headed to the gym alongside boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, possibly revealing that the singer wants to achieve her body’s most fit physique.

The singer’s revealing Billboard article not only alerted audiences to the fact that she’s been subtance free for weeks, but she also wanted to pursue new genres of music.ย

When questioned about what she’s been listening to lately, the singer confessed, “I also love that new Kendrick [Lamar] song [“Humble”]: ‘Show me somethin’ natural like a*s with some stretch marks.’ I love that because it’s not ‘Come sit on my d**k, suck on my c**k.’ I can’t listen to that anymore. That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much ‘Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl on my c**k’โ€”I am so not that.”

These comments didn’t sit well with some of Cyrus’ critics, as she had previously been accused of stealing black culture for her own professional gain.

Cyrus addressed those critics head-on in an Instagram post following the publication of the Billboard interview, saying, “When articles are read it isn’t always considered that for hours I’ve spoken with a journalist about my life , where my heart is, my perspective at that time, and the next step in my career. Unfortunately only a portion of that interview makes it to print, & A lot of the time publications like to focus on the most sensationalized part of the conversation. So, to be clear I respect ALL artists who speak their truth and appreciate ALL genres of music (country , pop , alternative โ€ฆ. but in this particular interview I was asked about rap).”
